Lyndal CAMPBELL

A Campbell painting is typically multi-layered and complex, regardless of the subject. The palimpsest of past works reveals itself over time, inviting the viewer to examine it more closely. Campbell has much to say as an artist, and the discovery, over time, of the breadth of her visual "language" is one of the main attractions of her work. The pleasure of discovery has delighted her audiences since her first exhibition in 1989. She reworks some paintings for months, sometimes repainting a canvas several times. The overlapping layers of paint give her work even more impact. She uses oil paint and works on several paintings simultaneously, both on canvas and paper. Lyndal has a masterful use of color and sometimes refers to working with stained glass and mosaics. Lyndal Campbell lives in Sydney, where she has exhibited her work since 1989. "The fusion of naive and abstract, with bold colors, makes Lyndal's work unique."
