Julien DREVELLE
Julien Drevelle lives and works in Cognac. Born in 1976, he was introduced to the applied arts from a young age. Indeed, the family tradition has been linked to cabinetmaking, upholstery, and decoration for several generations. Thus, he enrolled at the École Boulle, a leading Parisian school of applied arts, at the age of 16. After five years of training, he mastered the use of "tools" but also, and above all, the art of drawing. Barely having graduated, he went beyond the boundaries of craftsmanship to explore art. He felt a connection with French painting of the 1950s and its questions about the materials and equipment used. His first exhibition took place in 2000, and for the past 15 years, Julien Drevelle has continued to progress, research, and advance his painting. A hard worker, his works can be monumental (large formats over 2 meters) or minimal (sketchbooks or small formats). He also works with glass, metal, and wood. For him, "all these approaches are painting." His work is powerful, animal yet structured, dark and colorful. Broad strokes punctuate the space, and color brings it to life. His painting is described as architectural but also human, challenging and challenging us. Today, he creates a style of painting that stands out from the crowd and presents his work in various private institutions. He is currently followed by Swiss and French collectors, and the pictorial language this young painter has developed appeals to many art lovers.
