Biography
Pierre-Augustin Marboeuf's work is abundant. Divided between human and animal inspiration, it is shaped by a double postulation: upwards – the stars, the sky, possibly an absent God – and downwards – the earth, the body, matter, or even nothingness; finally, its emotional register is multiple: anguish, violence or energy, serenity, humor, desire.
Yet, even if it arouses the desire, we should not try to decipher it: art does not have the function of transmitting to us truths of which the artist would have perfect knowledge.
